The Gubbi is a brand for funny, contemporary objects made with India’s traditional handcrafts. Nothing plastic, nothing mass-produced.
Collection 01 is made in Channapatna, Karnataka, about 60 km from Bengaluru. The pieces are hand-turned in ivory wood (hale mara), coloured with friction-applied lac and laser-marked.
Why start here
The distance matters. Channapatna is close enough to visit and to talk to the makers, which is how a young brand should begin.
What comes next
Other Indian handcrafts will follow in later collections. None is named yet, because none has been confirmed.
You can see all ten pieces of Peak Bengaluru in the shop, or read how they are made on the craft page.
